An assessment and case history session is required before commencing therapy if one has not recently been done. This involves questions to parents/carers and the use of a standardised assessment. Results from these sessions are used to determine therapy goals and provide recommendations to parents and teachers/educational settings through a formal written report.
Intervention is tailored to each individual client and can be accessed through 30/45/60 minute sessions. Parents are encouraged to participate and home activities are provided for follow up and consolidation. Therapy is most commonly accessed on a fortnightly basis however can be weekly or monthly if required.
Professional development sessions are available for professionals and/or organisations including schools, day cares, parent workshops and community learning centres focusing on; speech pathology in general, speech and language acquisition, phonological awareness or any other areas of interest. Meidcare provides rebates for eligible clients who have an Enhanced Primary Care/Chronic Disease Management Plan established by their GP. Medicare will provide a rebate of $52.95 per session of up to 5 sessions per calendar year upon receipt of the paid invoice. Please be advised there will be an out of pocket cost.
